Everyone should be able to be a homeowner.  We have mapped out an operation called “The Icelandic Dream” – an operation that guarantees every citizen can afford their own home. We update the equity loan system and introduce a new way to bridge the generational financial gap.

We intend to put a stop to the endless mishandling of our borders and completely rewrite the Icelandic immigration laws. No one should come to Iceland to seek asylum. We should offer only people in dire distress to come here and help them to become assimilated with Icelandic society and culture. We should also focus on helping those in need closer to their own home. That way we can do much more good.  

Protect your assets and enjoy what really is yours.

The Central Party wants the Icelandic public to receive their rightful share of the sale of the state owned Icelandic Bank. Each and every citizen should get his own share to allocate as seen fit. This contributes to a more active stock market and increases the public’s chance to invest and create capital.   

Stop the gross mismanagement of public funds. Your money should not be thrown to the winds.

We are going to tackle fiscal policy fast and hard – we will cut spending and lower taxes. We will support the private sector as well as individual endeavors and stop all costly public initiatives that carry no beneficial value. At the end of our first fiscal year the state budget will be deficit-free, which leads to lower interest rates and less inflation. We have done this before – and intend to do it again. 

Break the deadlock in road construction all over the country. Prioritize Sundabraut – abandon the City Line.

The Centre Party completely rejects the current idea of a City Line. We intend to give Sundabraut absolute priority so construction can begin as soon as possible, seeing it is the most profitable transportation project in the country. The deteriorating state of public roads due to persistent lack of maintenance is completely unacceptable. We are going to counter that immediately and fix the road system.

Access to sufficient electricity at affordable prices is one of the main prerequisites for a healthy financial growth in Iceland. It is time to break the stalemate of recent years in the energy sector. We are going to pass a special legislation on hydro- and geothermal powerplant options so construction can start as soon as possible. It is time to act!
